An Untitled Website

I played a lot of new games this summer, fully taking advantage of Game Pass and the time off from work. I was having trouble remembering all of them, so I decided to catalog them along with thoughts about each.

Two Wordpress sites down, one to go. I don’t have anything against Wordpress, only that it’s overkill for what I do with websites. And static webpages load instantaneously.

I wrote this for my programming classes since the concept of cheating with code seems to be a greyer area for them as opposed to copying answer in math or an essay for English. Or maybe they’re just great bullshitters, but either way I felt I had to break it down for them and I’m putting it here because why not.

They’re too damn photogenic. It’s like cheating.

My building principle has a policy where we need to submit a Course Failure form at the end of the year for any student that fails a course. The top of the form asks for basic information, like student name, course, teacher name and so on. All important for specifying who failed, what they failed and for filing the form itself, so no problem there. But then it starts asking for things it doesn’t need.

How the hell do you lead a virtual session of professional development? Especially when it’s implied the session should be on a specific skill, like using Canvas. Demoing anything is iffy when it’s a live audience. The questions are endless and people move at different paces. I’ve been teaching computer classes long enough to know that you keep demos to a minimum so you can circulate the room and help people with individual issues.

The way social media works now is frustrating. Friends and family post on a platform, but to view the post you need to be a member of that platform. When a person decides to use a certain social media platform, people associated with them need to make the same decision. If you decide to use Facebook to post, then I must also use Facebook if I want to view your post.
